Backyard Bivvys

Backyard Bivvys

One of the more popular pass times at our camps is heading up into our douglas fir plantation and building bivvy’s

Why don’t you have a go at home? Create your own home bivvy or shelter from items you can find around your property

Items you could use:

Rope

Branches (don’t cut new ones unless you have permission from an adult)

Tarpaulins

Cardboard

A tent fly

If you have a tarpaulin and some rope you might want to try out some of these shelters…

Can you build one that will keep you dry in the rain?

Could you build one inside using a blanket or sheet instead?

Sarah Leslie (CYC Waihola)

I am the Ministry Coordinator at CYC Waihola I enjoy working with everyone who comes through our camp and seeing them enjoy the different activities and how much they gain from camping with us. My favorite bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." I am married (in 2003) and have 3 kids (2 boys and a girl) I have been working at CYC since 2017. Before that I was a teacher.
